Changing module version number when porting module from CS 10 to CS 10.5

Hi,

I have a brand-new (and licenced) install of CS 10.5 U 201503. I got the latest version of CSIDE installed with Eclipse Luna for Committers. I am trying to port a module I had written for CS 10 to CS 10.5. I managed to import the project and rebuild the ospace, but where I run into problems is when I try to up the version number. I am taking a raw CS 10.0 module with no modifications but I want the version number to be 10.5. Changing this in the source and rebuilding doesn't seem to have an effect.

I further tried to uninstall the module after pushing changes to the version number. That caused the module to no longer show up in staging. I uninstalled another module that I hadn't touched. It too disappeared!

So I have two questions: 1) What is the OpenText recommended way to increment the version number of a module imported from CS 10.0?, and 2) Why are modules not showing up in my staging directory after I uninstall them, restart the service, then hit 'Continue' button? These steps all worked in CS 10.0.

Hi Hugh,

This is what we have documented in the CSIDE training course. It's probably not greatly changed from the old Builder training course, so it glosses over some details of dealing with source code. You'll want to copy the ini file back to your source tree from the OTHome folder after running the dump script, for example.

Either before or after you have made all your programming changes to your module, save everything.
Open the WebModule object and override the .fVersion feature.
Restart Content Server.
In the Module Explorer, run the Webmodule.0 DumpModuleConfigToFile() method to recreate the ini file.
Save everything and stop Content Server.
In the <othome>/module folder increment the version number on the module’s folder.
Start Content Server.
Your module is now ready to be distributed for a system administrator to upgrade from a previous version.

I'm told there was a change to module upgrades in the December update, but I'm a bit unclear on what it involves exactly and whether it changes these instructions. I'll do some more asking around and get back to you.

Hi Darcy,

Well, to get myself over the hump, I built a version of the module with the version number set to 10.5 and imported that into CSIDE and it worked. I will try copying over the INI file to the source folder next time. I would though be interested to know though why my modules disappear when I uninstall them. I would expect them to go straight back into staging. Often times, you have to uninstall modules for one reason or another and I can't have them go disappearing each time I uninstall them.

Hello Hugh,

OpenText changex the way uninstalling works. Instead of copying the module back to the staging folder iT gets copied to an uninstalled folder.
