Upload file using CWS - versioning

Hi Everyone,

We are relatively new in LiveLink world and now trying to understand how to do versioning during uploading files to LL server using CWS from our C#-based Windows application. Any information (links, code snippets) you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Once the First Version is being uploaded using Content Services Context method see if you have code doing things like this

CreateDocumentContext First time around,subsequent is AddVersionContext

Note if you are using the DM Attach class it will only be able to do small files.The first file in this forum has Kyle Swidrowich's comments

that says what you would do to make big files work.The online documentation also explain the MTOM method in much detail.

Also File Loading depends on the web.Config (IIS,Tomcat etc) and App.Config being set right and is not a function of the livelink server

How would you check to see if the document already exists in the first place? How do you know if you're adding a version or adding a new document?

Also, although not directly related to the post, but probably helpful in this discussion, if someone wanted to add a new document with the same name but append a number at the end (instead of adding a new version), how would you go about checking if the document already exists and determine which number is the hightest? We can see that behavior already in Content Server so I'm wondering how we could reproduce that in C# using CWS. (List children, loop through and compare name with "contains" and then get the highest number and increment by 1?)

I am glad some of it made sense.however coming from lapi to CWS is such an easy thing because there is a whole lot more friendly thing .so here's a simple check you could do

you can ask for dm.GetNodeByName(ref dmOTAuth, 145060, "Appu.txt") and it will be null if it does not and work accordingly

some of my simple trials look very promising no time to do a proper sample but I will try.In my CS10.5 the new document1 ,2 does not work I am not sure if I have multi language

in my system or not
