Top **** Documents accessed in last X months

Hi reporting experts!

I am wondering if anyone has thoughts for how to tackle a request to report out on the Top **** Documents accessed in last X months. For example, managament might want to know the 500 most-accessed documents in the last 3 months. The number of documents and the date ranges would need to be variables.

I am just starting to work on this request myself, so if I find a solution I will post back here to share, but thought I would also post here ahead of time to see if anyone has suggestions.

In old livelink instances one would get a library of canned reports like the screencap that I would think would give you a get a starting point.Many have parameters based on dates so they could be tweaked.A product called Pulse prevalent in KB and communities also try to tell you a little more like what a user did on the system.I kind of liked that.

Duaditnew has most of the things for you if "they" are audited.You can also parse webserver logs ( we had things called webtrends) to kind of make an educated guess on places most visted etc.

Here's a report I wrote back in 2009 when the "DAudit" table was still used (now it is DAuditNew):

SQL used for the report:

select d.Name, count(a.UserID) "Fetches" from DAudit a, DTree d where Event in ('View','Fetch') and AuditDate>=%1 and AuditDate<= %2 and d.Dataid=a.DataID and d.SubType=144 group by d.Name order by count(a.UserID) desc

%1 = User Input (Start Date)

%2 = User Input (End Date)

By "Accessed" are you including only "Fetch"? What about Printing? Zip-n-email, Zip-n-Download, Move, Copy? Beyond that selection, it can't be that difficult to write. You set your return limit to 500, but don't include any of that in the query itself. The ORDER BY is done in Descending order.
