Upgrading CSIDE (OClipse) ?

I suspect the answer to my question is going to be one of those "smack forehead" moments when someone points out the obvious.....but here goes....

I have happily had Eclipse LUNA runing with the CSIDE plugin. Recently, I went to ugprade the plugin to v 10.5.5 and assumed that all I needed to do was remove the existing com.opentext.cside_10.5.0.285.jar file from my Eclipse Plugins directory and drop in the newer one (com.opentext.cside_10.5.5.327).

However, once I did this, I can no longer see or use the OScript perspective or features.

I've tried same approach with prior CSIDE plugin versions to check it's not an issue with 10.5.5, but all exhibit same issue.

So - to upgrade CSIDE, do we need to remove the prior plugin JARs or do we simply continue do add these to our Eclipse plugin directory?

Hi David,

There should be only one version of cside jar in eclipse plugin folder, which you did is correct. And this is the practice I have been taking that haven't encountered such issue.

Could it be corrupted jar file which you downloaded? Did you try -clean option to start your eclipse? Do you have multiple eclipse in your system which you may had deleted/placed the plugin jar file from/to the other one? Can you create new Oscript Project?

If above diagnosis didn't help, please provide below info?

1. What version of Content Server you used when using com.opentext.cside_10.5.0.285.jar? and after upgraded to com.opentext.cside_10.5.5.327.jar?

2. Where did you download the com.opentext.cside_10.5.5.327.jar (just make sure I could reprecate the issue as much closed to your environement)?

3. Are you on Windows or Linux?

The environment has the latest cumulative patch applied to it. I routinely update the environment and previous attempts to upgrade CSIDE have also had same result

From the Knowledge Center - https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objId=50307379&objAction=browse&sort=name. FYI - as per response above, all previous attempts following this process have failed, so I think I can also rule out corrupted downloads.

FYI - I've since downloaded a newer version of Eclipse (MARS) and Java SDK and setup a side-by-side install of Eclipse (i.e. Kepler in one directory, MARS in another) and dropped the newer CSIDE plugin into the MARS install and it works......

I tried to reproduce this, but work for me.

1. I have CS10.5 with 2015-06 update on my Windows 2008 R2

2. Use Kepler with com.opentext.cside_10.5.0.297.jar (I could not find 285) to create Oscript project

3. Close Kepler and remove com.opentext.cside_10.5.0.297.jar, place com.opentext.cside_10.5.5.327.jar

4. Start Kepler again

The Oscript project is still in my Kepler workspace and run correctly

btw, I use (always use) 64-bit eclipse and jdk.
