Consolidated document list based on categories

Hi ,

i have 5 different categories created and applied to the documents based on the document taxonomy , all the 5 categories are having a common Attribute called Department location .

how to write a live report in which i will give the department location as input and need the list of documents for which anyone of the 5 category is applied and attribute value = input .

I wouldn't think that would be too hard.

One way, in Oracle, is to define each Attribute separately in the "FROM". The AttrID may be different on each Category, so that would have to checked.

From DTREE dt

left outer join llattrdata lla1 on dt.dataid = lla1.id and dt.versionnum = lla1.vernum and lla1.defid = <Category1> and lla1.attrid = <Attribute ID1> and lower(lla1.valstr) = lower(%1)

left outer join llattrdata lla2 on dt.dataid lla2.id and dt.versionnum = lla2.vernum and lla2.defid = <Category2> and lla2.attrid = <Attribute ID2> and lower(lla2.valstr) = lower(%2)

etc.etc.

The %1, %2, %3, etc.would all point to the one parameter you specify to enter a text/string.

In the SELECT, you can use a COALESCE to which ever one that is found(if only one is supposed to be found among the five):

SELECT dt.dataid, dt.name, coalesce(lla1.valstr, lla2.valstr, lla3.valstr, etc.etc)

Thanks for the reply,i have tried as you mentioned below .But after executing the query i getting the list of content server items instead i need the list of documents having the provided attribute value irrespective of category .i am attaching the document for your information.

You have to know whether the particular Attribute has the same Attribute ID in all Categories. If it does, then you can just have one reference to the LLATTRDATA. If not, you have to have a line referencing the LLATTRDATA for each different ATTRIBUTE ID.

But assuming they're the same, remove "left outer" and that will force only entries to show up that match. And add "WHERE DT.SUBTYPE = 144" to limit it to documents.

If the Attribute ID is different then, you'll have to have a line for each one and reference my original COALESCE and put this in the WHERE: "where dt.subtype = 144 and (lla1.valstr is not NULL or lla2.valstr is not NULL and etc.etc)"<---at least one has to be not NULL so that only a qualifying entry will show.

You will have to click at the top left of the Titles of Columns and drag down and to the right. Copy-n-paste into Excel...like everyone else. Depending upon your browser (IE8 or IE11), there may be an invisible character in front and behind each field. So, if formatting doesn't work or summarizing/totaling, you'll have to copy one of those characters and the replace it with nothing (stripping it out) and then formatting will work.

In IE9, it works fine...no character is copied.
