Subtype details

Hi All,

I am trying to build a report to pull out all the data owned by the particular user. I also need to add the column "type of object" which I can get using the subtype column from dtree. But is there any table where the relation is maintained to all this subtype? or I would need to hardcode each of them?

You can build one on your own from the Sysreport or from the Schema companion in the Champion toolkit area. And then those that don't match, you can build as you go.

If I read this correctly you know your livelink has many nodetypes like 144 for document and 0 for folder and you want to know how many other subtypes there are is that correct?

Not an easy avenue to pursue with a SQL tool as that is not how livelink does it internally.But with ever increasing qusetions of this nature who knows OT may have gotten a feature request and there might be a convenience table like CatRegionMap?

Really pathetic idea.One could sit at a livelink GUI and looking at the Object&Usage Privileges place,reserve a whole day and set out to create each one correctly or ones that don't exist yet.Then one can do a select distinct(subtype) from dtree
One can run the SystemReport Request Handler.the Lite one will suffice.In that Text file is all the NodeTypes this livelink can possibly produce.One can put that into a lookup table.If one was devntorous enough one could write oscript and create that table as well.
One can just use a good site as well as the Oscript Node Registry

One good thing is Livelink software registers the nodes with the same number for different customers so in my livelink(and plenty of other places I have worked) and your livelink a DocumentSubtype is 144 and a folder is 0.Hardcodes you should avoid is the common mistakes people do like Categories Workspace(2004),Enterprsie Workspace(2000) that kind .

The template of the Node is created and inserted into a internal database(not sql accessible) so if you looked in the right place in oscript you are able to see all this info.

SInce you are wanting the objects that are currently in your system simply run a Lite SysReport. it will list all the subtypes in your instance, how many of each are there and what they are. there is no table that records document is 144, folder is 0, etc.

One method is to write two LRs.

1). An LR that lists the SubTypes in their number, and their counts with a link to a SubLR.

2). The SubLR would list 10 or 20 of the DataIDs and Names from the DTREE.

With that you can then open one of the DataIDs and go to the Properties | General and see what it labels it. This is what I did after I manually built a CASE statement with each one that I found in a document. Those that came up "Other", I looked up one of the Objects on the Properties and filled it in. A CASE statement containing every Subtype will be lengthy, but it works. The mystery of where CS holds the text is: a mystery.

Or look in the LiveReports Forum for an LR that contains such a list.

In the LiveReport choose a report format of "LiveReport:". This will add a "Type" column to your output, which will show the icon for the subtype. Hovering over the icon will show a tooltip containing the name of the subtype.
