Get and manage Node Classifications

Hi everybody,

I'm creating and copying documents from-to another folder using OTCS Web Service API DocumentManagement.

Both folder have Classifications tab Properties > Classifications and in both of them they have configured diverente values.

When I copy a documento from other place, I would like to manage tis info, this classifications, but I don't know how to get this ingormation... so I can not manipulate it...

Are there any way to do this with Web Service API or REST API?

Classifications and RMclassifications have a different WSDL that gets deployed You need to use them plenty of examples in RM forum you will use doc API along with the two other ApI's

Do you want a simple and cheap answer if not read the many advantages of different methods in how to tag and find things in a Document Management System.

Cheap Answer-As a DMS system grows it gets all kinds of data that people put in .Normally people would want to get it back with less effort. So people start the effort towards some method to the madness .We all create folders named somethings in windows /unix

Correct. Since the DMS grows sooner or later these things will become inefficient so people in Libraries how do they get you a book when you ask or say it is on that shelf. They use an advanced “classification” scheme.

Classification-A simple traversal hierarchy where you can “round up” items you want. Say I want to find all documents belonging to the “Belize Classification”.

RM Classification- The “Belize Classification” by statutes of law are prevented to be stored not more than 7 years when they were put into the system. So if a Object was added and given a “Belize RM Classification” that object should vanish 7 years from now.

RM Class borrows heavily from Classification code.

Read also about “Metadata” which is exposed in livelink as “Categories & Attributes”. Most of these are highly skilled “Library Sciences” people designing things so that they can be found when it needs to be found and disposed when they have to be disposed.
