EFS Data Size

Hello,

I would like to know the data consumbtion of EFS using department wise (Like Legal, IT, HR etc) and perpare report. so that we can able to identify which department users consuming how much amount of data in EFS.

Using CS-10.

Any hints would be good.

Does each Department have it's own set of Folders? Is it allocated by ACL?

Colin - probably not. At least not in the EFS. I would think you would need to query the DB to get the size information. I had an old query that would do this based on MIME Types (see below). But it doesn't appear to work any longer (datasize seems not to be available now). The script would need to be changed to query based on Parentid and I am not sure how you would "walk the tree" to get all files in sub-folders. I think Oracle has a query delimiter that does this but I believe it is much more difficult in SQL Server.

SELECT MimeType as "MIME", COUNT(*) as "Count", AVG(cast(datasize as real)) / 1024 as "AvgFileSize (KB)", SUM(cast(datasize as real) / 1024) as "TotalFileSize (KB)", MAX(cast(datasize as real) / 1024) as "Max (KB)"

FROM DVersData

GROUP BY MimeType

ORDER BY 5 DESC

I would change the MimeType to be Name and you might have to do a join with DTree to get the SubType=144 if you are limiting to Documents. Someone a lot smarter in SQL could probably take this as a starting point and make it work - IF there is a replacement for datasize in CS 10 and beyond. If there is, please let me know. I still need to determine size of storage on occasion. Just one more reason Archive Server, with their logical archives, is easier to obtain this type of info from.

The Projects present a difficulty, but if your DTREEANCESTORS table is up-to-date, you could write it based on it. You'd have to hard code the highest parent FolderID in the report.

I use this LR to report on the Volume-level. I've modified it to report on the High Parent level just below "Enterprise" with specific DATAIDs referenced. I'm working on a version that wouldn't use Hard coded values. The code within this I got from OT a few years back.
