Request Handler and WebReports

Hi,

Is there a way to call request handler (e.g. func=custmodule.Update&AddList=195722_71055&nexturl=) in background?

I mean not via javascript but somehow behind the scenes.

I'd like WebReport to execute it somehow, I don't need a response of that RH.

Maybe using WebReport script? Maybe some hack?

What I would have done is func=custmodule.Update&AddList=195722_71055&nexturl=

I would have made a Utils (Root::Utils Object) and when you call the RH in effect you are executing the

Utils Object.Think of it as a convenient internal function or API.After making sure you have not broken your RH

Look in WR documentation for how to write your own tag using oscript.

A "kludge" could be you could writ ethe results of func=custmodule.Update&AddList=195722_71055&nexturl= to a table or file and have the WR read it.

Hmm, thanks. Sounds promising. It is actually some existing module with that RH. How can I check if it already has been added to Roots/globals?

If you know your way around Globals and oscript programming in builder days there would be a Global Object in that ospace.Sorry I am not going to tray to educate about the concepts because if you look in builder/cside forum you will get a lot of the real info.Simplest one would be

In builder look at the command Application Globals look for something in $custmodule if it is global as I think you should see it there

This is the resaon why one can do $lliapi to traget stuff in that to do node manipulation etc.Builder also has a kewl Inspector where you can type $lliapi in it

CSIDE killed it I think.

in CSIDE on the module explorer right where you see the brightly lit tree at the tip you can see the Globals as well.

It is common practice to move commonly used stuff in code to a re-usable object a.k.a Root:Utils.

If you have the WebReport then you can just add a hidden IFRAME and set the SRC to be your URL, this should be fine as you stated you don't need a response - although this would include any error handling eg. Server Did Not Respond etc.

Thanks, but I need this to happen behind the scenes (on server side).

I've already managed to create own WebReport tag and reused generic code from that request handler to perform what I need.
