Update Category on Node and all sub Nodes

We are using Content Server 10.5 and we would like to update the category against the node and all sub nodes under the parent.  I know using API we can call UpdateNode to updtae the metadata however I can't find a method to update the sub nodes.  Is anyone able to do that through API?

Hi Freddy,

Content Web Services does not currently offer the ability to apply a category definition to all children of a container. One can update category data on a specific node through the metadata parameter, but there isn't a flag that lets you say "apply to subitems".
Currently, you need to crawl through the node's children and grandchildren client-side, applying a metadata update at each node.
We have a feature request in our tracking system for this - LESAPI-1687 but it has not been scheduled for an implementation.

You should be able to walk through the subchildren recursively in an application to perform this update.
