C# - ADN Table Key Lookup value list

Good afternoon,

I'm using Content Web Services to connect to LiveLink. Application is Windows .Net application (C#).

I need to populate an attribute for the document which is based on the drop down list. Getting the StringAttribute object is not a problem, but now I cannot get the list of available values for this object because attribute is using list from ADN Table Key Lookup. I checked different properties of the attribute but could not find how I can extract the list of values.

Could anybody give me a direction?

Hello Galina,

without testing it, my guess would be that in one of the properties the Sql (like "select name from names") for the valid values is stored. You need to resolve this (through own request to CS or directly with DB) to your valid values. If you have a dependency to other attributes you need to check the Sql and set the parameters accordingly.

Thank you for your reply. Our application is Windows Application on C# and we do not access LiveLink database directly but rather use LiveLink web services. Current code was like that:

AttributeGroupDefinition defS = docMan.GetCategoryDefinition(ref OtAuth, CategoryID);

for (int i = 0; i < defS.Attributes.Length; i++)
{
StringAttribute strAtt = defS.Attributes[i] as StringAttribute;
if (strAtt == null)
continue;

if (strAtt.DisplayName == LLCatName)
DocumentTypes = strAtt.ValidValues;
}

Now the changes were made to use ADN Table Key Lookup instead of ValidValues and this broke the app. What are our other choices? Do you know if webservices have any methods to extract these values?

Maybe I'm missing something and there is a way to use SQL query (I have one) and make a call to CWS? If yes, could you please help me to find out how to do this?

CWS supports calling a Live Report(SQL object in database) A D N and AttrLookup supports cascading so the values that it shows on multiple fields

is dependent and run by the weblingo logic. For a A D N related project we thought of doing a custom webservice stub(Oscript) for A D N but gave up that design because A D N offers many different options and is very versatile.At that time we asked OT if they would enhance the web services and was not given a very imminent answer so we ran our application as oscript.I think with OT embracing REST you might be able to get the logic via that or websreports.Our development in house estimate was very high at that time.
