How to set a new endpoint (Java)

Hi all,

we did a Web Service and need to move it to different environments, our WS is now pointing to http://localhost:8080/.....

We need to change the endpoint from localhost:8080 to testservername:8090.

How can we achieve this configuration change?

Hello,
I think you are talking about your web service client (the app that calls the service). So, it depends on how your clien works.

You need to modify or change the endpoint somewhere in the client.
In a Java client the endpoints could be found at a java file. Change them, rebuild and redeploy. They also could be found in a config file outside the project from where you would only need to change them.

Or you could regenerate your clien, or make a new client, with new wsdl file. Then build and deploy.

Hello Gianni,

What you want to do is create a new instance of the service class and pass the WSDL of your server. Here is an example for the authentication web service:

Authentication_Service authService = new Authentication_Service(Authentication_WSDL,new QName(CORE_NAMESPACE,"Authentication" ) );
Authentication authClient = authService.getBasicHttpBindingAuthentication();

In my example, I have a string called Authentication_WSDL which contains the URL to my endpoint. When I instanciate a new service object, I pass the URL of the endpoint. When that happens, I can then instanciate a new authentication client so that I can make authetication requests to the server specified by the Authentication_WSDL variable.

in C# when I create a client and want to run it against another instance I change that in the App.Config.Most stuff I do are console utility programs nothing fancy.I am betting Java has methods like that as well.

You probably need some code like the following:

DocumentManagement_Service dmLoc;

dmLoc = new DocumentManagement_Service(

new URL(getDocManUrl()),

new QName(

"urn:DocMan.service.livelink.opentext.com",

"DocumentManagement"

)

);

dmLoc.setHandlerResolver(resolver);

dmSvc = dmLoc.getBasicHttpBindingDocumentManagement();

Change the URL (marked green above).

Hi Appu,

For C#, it is the same idealogy. The only difference is the syntax. For C# here is an example:

Authentication.AuthenticationClient authClient = new Authentication.AuthenticationClient();
authClient.Endpoint.Address = new EndpointAddress(CS10_5_LES_Authentication_addr);

The idea here is that after you instanciate the client, you set the address of the endpoint.
