CS 16 CSIDE Corrupting Legacy Ospaces

I've had issues with using Eclipse and CSIDE on CS 16 where when I unlock a legacy ospace and then stop execution of CS, even if no changes are made to the ospace, the ospace is either reported as corrupt or it just doesn't load upon up restart. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

have you imported the OSpace to your project or what the details of the failure ?

If you can provide more information and logs we can take a look and try to resolve this

I had sent OT a bunch of things that don't seem to be productive when working with CSIDE

naturally my interest grew thin on following up as my project ended and in many cases I was able to work with builder

to get code for CS10.5.

It may also be my perception and the lost sense of something with which you were familiar for some time

I tried a simple test with the following steps:

Create a new ospace in LL 9.7.1.
Add a single new object as a child of the root.
Save the ospace and close it.
Add this new ospace to an existing module's ospace directory on CS 16
edit the opentext.ini file so the ospace will be opened with the module
start CSIDE.
Unlock the new new ospace
stop execution of CS
restart execution of CS
a crash occurs

I finally figured out that I was using an old version of the CSIDE plugin and that was what was corrupting the ospace.

This brings up the question, "Will the new plugin versions work with CS 10.5?" I have a number of different dev and test instances on the same server and I use the same install of Eclipse for all of them. Can I install the CS 16 version of the plugin and have it work on 10.5?

Yes, the released plugin should work for both 16 and 10.5. It depends on the server type that you point to in your workspace (by specifying OTHOME) is it 10.5 or 16.

Hi Jeff,

The CSIDE 16 plugin is indeed backwards compatible with 10.5 CS instances. I’d encourage anyone still using any of the older plugin versions to go ahead and start using the latest to take advantage of any bug fixes in the newest releases. If that ever changes I’ll make sure we Release Note it.
