Is it possible to get more information on ApplicationID?

I've checked the docs and the only documentation I've been able to find is the following mention: "Some applications, such as the Enterprise Library, have the concept of an application. You can authenticate a user in the context of an application."

In EL there are so-called Applications (appIds).

When working with EL, applications (such as xECM) are encouraged to authenticate not only with user and password, but additionally with appId and password (seehttps://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/piroot/elws/v100201/elws-pgd/en/html/meth-ifelbielservice-authenticateapplication.htm). Via ArchiveLink the appId transparently works with certificates/secKeys.

The documents, which are archived with logged-in appId, are marked as belonging to this appId.

Please note appId authentication provides no access control. It’s just informational.

 

One of the major features of this concept: an application can subscribe to RM disposition messages.

If RM disposes an EL document, EL remembers this together with the appId.

Later in time, the application (such as xECM) can query their disposition messages to update their information (i.e. remove dangling links).
