Create a new partner in CPDB

I'm working on a new module for CS 10.5 where there is LLRequestHandler that has to create a new "natural person" in partner database. This is the first time I have to work with cpdatabase 10.5 module and I'm stuck as I don't see useful features:

Anyone knows how to create a partner? Thank you for any help.

The way that module works is it expects a xml file from a SAP system and it will consume the file . You may see a sample file in its module directory or with parts of its documentation. The screen shot shows how you make lapi support the code.If you run the corresponding utility scripts I have done that and it had worked circa in about 2007-2008 when I was deploying CLM for a customer that was version 971 or 10 I can't remember.The customer was not a SAP shop so I looked at the xml file structure that SAP provided got an extract from a Peoplesoft system the customer used and made the peoplesoft data like the sap xml and lo and behold I connected the two together.I did not want to write oscript at that time so took this shortcut.If you play with a sample xml stub and put a break you can see how the partners are getting called.

I may have the xml file with me as well as a C# project that I used to convert the peoplesoft data with me somewhere so if you think that is useful let me know I can try finding it out for you.I doubt if you need my help because if you follow what I said you might be able to crack that much yourself.

Hi Roberto,

I don’t understand what your problem is. You see there the LAPI function CreateNaturalPerson. When you look at the code you see what needs to be done.

The same for the function ImportPartnerInfoFromCSVFile. I think that function is only for a company, but in the database they are stored in the same table.

In case you want to debug, you can debug the manual creation of a person.

If you have the data in a XML file then you may want to change the import function to also support persons. The starting point for that is ImportPartnerInfoFromXMLFile

Hi Hans,

I'm able to import partners calling the ImportPartnerInfoFromCSV but as you said, is only for company. My problem is how to call the LAPI function CreateNaturalPerson. I'm only able to call function under CPDBRoot. CreateNaturalPerson id part of CPDB APIHandler.

Hi Roberto,

I would not suggest to call the LAPI function, because LAPI is no longer supported and the function may disappear without notice. SO you better make a copy of it in your own request handler. It only offers create and not update.

The import via CSV is also not supported, because it reads the whole file in memory before processing it. SO it can only be used for small amounts of partners.

In the DBPkg you find the functions InsertOrganisation and UpdateOrganisation. They can also be used to add persons. The only difference is that the record that Is passed should have the column CPTYPE with a value of DBPkg.fNaturalPersonId (3) to indicate that it is a person.

The function ProcessPArtnerRecords sets the CPType hardcoded to 2, so you can also change that.

I'm now able to import Organisations and natural persion calling $cpdb.DBPkg.InsertOrganisation(prgCtx, fields).
