Possibility to initiate workflow AND "autodirect" the user to the step following the Start Step?

Hi

We have Oscript knowledge, but we haven't made any customizations affecting workflows before. So, to perhaps save ourself som time I wonder if any of you has made something similar - or have any suggestions/ideas? (we run CS 10.5 and ahve eSign, Forms and Webforms)

We want to add an option/row to the documents Functions menu that when selected:

1) Initiates a particular workflow (which have the setting of not displaying the start step) (I've seen example code for initiate workflow, so I hope that the possibility to do it from the functionmenu of a document would be possible)

2) directly shows the step assigment interface to the user for the step (a Form Tas step) that follows the start step (the performer of the FormTask is set to the Initiator) The point of this is so that the user won't have to do as many clicks (they otherwise have to click OK on confirmation on initiated workflow, click on Personal/Assigmnents and search for the relevant assigment and click on that)

The other option would be to let your function show the form and let the form start the Workflow.

I expect so.

I don’t know if you can map an integer Form Field on an item reference attribute. If not then you need to enable item reference attributes also for Forms.

You should pass the DataID of the document to the form. Then within the form within JavaScript you are able to retrieve the dataid and set the form field.

Well, Iäve done som testing, and Iäm able to make a form where I add a document as item reference, and then initiates a signing workflow when the Form is submitted. But then I seem to get a lot of different errors/problems, and I feel very uneasy and uncertain that forms and eSign works that well togehter - any experience in that combination??

The eSign workflow assumes that the document is in the workflow attachments.

I don’t know if that is possible with the standard forms WF integration. Never tried that. But it should be possible to copy it with the item handler step.

Otherwise it is possible with the XML Workflow Interchange module (this is not the XML workflow extensions module).

Hello Nina,

In case if you have add-ons like WebReports or third party products like WorkflowPlus by Supai or GCI Powertools for workflow you can achieve it. Here is post from me few years back. https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/32656389. Not a best solution but it is worth a try if it works for you.
