RM - removing Primary classifications

Hi there,

We want to remove the Primary classification of a large number of items that have two classificaitons and leave the second classification on the item. The RMRemoveClassification method fails with "Removing primary RM classification is not allowed". Is there a way I can make the second classification the primary so that I can remove the classification that I want to remove.

Regular Classifications or RM Classifications both look similar but are differently coded

Essentially I believe you have

A Default Classification you are getting by inheritance or RM setting.
Multiple RM Classifications are allowed.

In this case, if any code comes to change the classification of node it checks like this

Can you remove secondary (Yes - Valid)
Can you make Secondary Primary(Yes - Valid)
Can you leave Node without a Primary(Invalid Condition)

I think your action is falling into that condition, Observe one of the subnodes from the records detail page and tell the forum how you are doing this>from GUI, through code like SOAP or WR. Someone who is more familiar in RM code than me will give you a hand.

I am using OScript to add a WebNodeCmd which ultimately calls the following code to remove the classification.

recmanService = $Service.ServiceRegistry.getItem( "RecordsManagement" )

if ( IsDefined( recmanServiceTemp ) && IsDefined( prgCtx ) )

recmanServiceTemp.SetProgramSession( prgCtx ) for destID in dstIDs

results = recmanServiceTemp.RMRemoveClassification( destID, srcIDs )

if ( !results.OK )

retVal = results

break

end

Since you know Oscript on the RecMan Ospace run a search on RemoveRMClassifications you will see what I am talking about.
If you debug it you will understand it and if you do not know RecMan try setting up or observing the system when multiple RM Class and Default Classifications are enabled.
