Set permissions with documentManagement.addNodeRight to subitems

Hello,

I'm using web service documentManagement.addNodeRight to set permissions on business workspaces.

Problem is, that subitems of this bws will not inherit this permission .

Is there a way to get this done automatically or must I step through all subitems of the bws and add the permission?

Since I have it kicking around – if you’re updating a lot of nodes at once be sure to consider chunking your operation to avoid timing out. I have this C# snippet that worked well for my purposes (testing), though you should probably have some error handling in there if you were doing anything other than quick’n’dirty or testing work. Oh, and I left out setting up the actual rights objects, but that’ll be the same regardless of method.

//Set up the update context

UpdateNodeRightsContextRequest updctx = new UpdateNodeRightsContextRequest();

updctx.nodeID = 123456; //Some container node

updctx.operation = RightOperation.Add;

updctx.propagation = RightPropagation.TargetAndChildren;

//Set up the chunking context – rights is a NodeRight[] object set up earlier

ChunkedOperationContext context = docManClient.UpdateNodeRightsContext(ref otAuth, updctx.nodeID, updctx.operation, rights, updctx.propagation);

NodeRightUpdateInfo info = new NodeRightUpdateInfo();

//Loop through updates until we're out of chunks

{

info = docManClient.UpdateNodeRights(ref otAuth, context);

Console.WriteLine(context.ContextID);

Console.WriteLine(context.ChunkSize);

Console.WriteLine(context.Finished);

Console.WriteLine();

Console.WriteLine(info.Context);

} while (!info.Context.Finished);

Might come in handy somewhere.
