Is there documentation that outlines the major differences between CS 10/10.5/16

Good morning. Just trying to expedite some analysis. Is there a summary document out there that identifies the major differences (namely with the database) between CS 10/10.5 and 16? I've heard from a former consultant that worked with us that the entire coding has changed -- but it seems as though OScript is still being used?

I guess it’s not really an all-in-one document, but going over these should give you an idea as to the delta between versions.

OScript sure isn’t going anywhere! CS16 does have a lot of under-the-hood changes in the OScript VM but by and large that should be transparent to any users and/or developers. In those scenarios where that hasn’t been the case those have ended up being bugs for us to fix.

Hi Dave

If helps with your level of confidence all our OSript products ported from CS10.5 to CS16 without a problem. One minor issue around the way columns are handled in CS16 vs 10.5 but that was quick to fix and the code bases for both versions is the same. Perhaps the person who mentioned that was thinking about LAPI which has finally been put out to pasture.

Hi Dave,

From 10.0 to 10.5 the development environment has changed from Builder to Eclipse + CSIDE.

The compiler has been improved, which means that more errors are detected. Also the new construct Package is introduced at the source code level.

The oll format has also changed, which means that modules developed on 10.5 can’t be installed on 10.0.

I suggest you read the QUck Start guide for CSIDE to get an overview of what has changed.

The differences between 10.5 and 16 are less. You can use CSID 16 in a 10.5 environment. I think there is still the issue with the backward compatibility.
