Basically i have a requirement in which i need to access table data from some other channel's database(TIBCO) in my Oscript code. All ports being opened. There will be no issue regarding access. Could you please let me know any way to access and modified table data of other channal database.

This is very usual in programming. Pls look for examples of DBWizAPI or CAPI in code or documentation.

Examples easy to understand Webforms Database Connection when you create a connection object in GUI you can trace through builder or cside how oscript actually does it

Another way is to create 'linked' tables from the livelink scheme in that case you or your DBA will setup the connection and just call the other tables using CAPI

Will be slower but will get the job done

To add to Appu's reply, you can see a working example in the Admin pages. Web Forms Database Lookup Administration, Manage Secure Database Connections. Following that should get a code example.

If you have database that is one of the databases on which CS runs, then you can use the method given by other users.

When you have a proprietary database then the best way is by accessing it via a java library.

In an ideal world the DB objects should be shared via a DB Link into your CS database so you don't have to handle the connection within your OScript tier and the associated risks.

I was just thinking what Hans was saying. Another approach to this problem would be to write a Java class that uses standard JDBC connector to the TIBCO db, and get your data that way, feeding it back in a List or HashMap to be read as a RecArray or an Assoc (OK, mapping not exact).

One advantage of this approach is that you isolate all your external access to one JAR file.

I don’t know if you need your own Java wrapper.

In the days when we just had the Java integration for OScript I implemented an integration of CardFile with JDBC and I was able to do it without my own an Java wrapper.

I abandoned the project because it was much too slow. That was primary because at that time there was no automatic conversion to RecArray, so I needed to get every data element via an extra method call from OScript.
