[EXTERNAL] - Hiding an Attribute Value based on Permissions

Hi,

I’m currently searching for a possiblity via the SmartUI for a business scenario that I’m trying to handle. In a category, I would like to be able to hide a particular attribute value of a cateogry based on groups such that one a user of one group may not use this value or see this option to begin with if he does not have the right permissions to do so. To achieve this from the classic UI, I could spin up a category tab override using ActiveViews. However, this will not translate into the SmartUI. I’m currently on 16.0.3 and I wuold like to know if something like this could be perceived as achievable using the SmartUI SDK

Pramod, I've got a pretty similar requirement and it doesn't look like it's currently supported.

So we'll put in a feature request. Something along the lines of being able to register a behaviour against the appropriate component in the metadata views so that we can change the state of the form (add classes to form groups, change attributes on inputs, etc.) based on the node data.

Just seeing if you've put one in yourself so I can reference it.

Once we introduce role-based configuration, this will be feasible. An admnistrator could be able to hide or make read-only form fields representing category attributes. We have not planned it so far, because the often request is to hide the whole form (tab property panel) representing a category, or other metadata. Technically, descending from the form level to the field level is possible. It will depend on feature priorization. Role-based configuration is still in discussions and prototyping, concentrating on actions (toolbars, context menus) at first.

As you write, permission-based configuration is not possible for single categories or category attributes.

Today you could theoretically replace the Properties and Add commands, but it would be too much work for a customer project.
