REST api and add node with categories with mandatory attributes

Hi Team.

I can quite happily add files to folders using the REST API.

But its not clear to me what the sequencing of calls is to add a node to a folder that has categories on it that possess mandatory attributes. Is anyone able to advise or direct me to the relevant manuals or examples that I've not so far found please?
