Calling a LiveReport from Excel via a Macro

Hi All,

 

I'm running a LiveReport from Excel ( via Get Data from Web and the report URL) and then manipulate the data returned with VBA macros.

 

Everything is working fine, however, I need to automate the actual running of the LiveReport,

 

I made a button and hooked the running of the 'Get Data from Web' to the click of that button.

 

When I click the button the first time, I get a

 

"Note:Since your browser does not support Javascript, you must press the Continue button once to proceed."

 

as a result in the tab.

 

If I run the report then manually (Data/Get from Web and type the URL)  I get the desired response.

 

From then onwards (if I keep the Excel workbook open), I can run the report macro as many times as I want with the button.

 

Any assistance as to how I automate the running of the report will be appreciated.

(Unfortunately the client does not have WebReports.)

Hi Jaco,

 

I have seen this behaviour with VBA macros when used with systems that rely on integrated Windows authentication and the Content Server uses the OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) for user authentication.

 

What I have found necessary in the tweaking of the code is to change the type of object being used to initiate the HTTP(S) connection needs some tweaking or changing. I cannot speak to the VBA object type you are using, in cases with CS and OTDS I have used, with some success, the InternetExplorerMedium class to broker the HTTP stream and authentication to Content Server. This basically creates a browser object that should be able to connect to the Content Server URL provided after naavigating the OTDS authentication request/response cycle.

 

That may work for your needs.
