Previuos version category update

I am using LL9.7.1 and have a requirement wherein i have to update previous versions category attributes.

Unfortunately i could not able to find any APIs or even llnode function which i can use to update previous version metadata.

If anyone has any suggestion on how i can achieve this! Thanks in advance.. looking forward to hear.

If you look in earlier posting by good people like Kyle S and David T ,OT does not want a API out there that would tamper immutable data.How will you answer this question if they allowed you?

"Give me the metadata on the previous version of the object".If any one could change that they couldn't possibly advertise the DMS as a repository of secure information.

But having said that older API's such as LAPI at one time (not recent) allowed you to specify the version number of the node to which the update was occurring.Several anomalies such like this exist

as in OT there isn't a single place that everyone calls (well there is a LCD but that's not the point)

I am not sure about what I posted because I have no source code of LAPI at this time to look at if not old OI may have had it... all guesses

Handle your requirement with your own implementation than tampering with something OT doesn't want you to tamper that would be my sincere advice

Hi Smreet,

Are you trying to do this programmatically? There is a method available to achieve this through the Content Web Service API – upgradeCategoryItems / upgradeCategoryItemsContext. You use the two methods together to set it up as a batch job, similar to any other CWS methods that use a context method like this.
