List all documents with a classification

I am trying to list all documents on one RM Classification but it seems impossible.

I am using RMClassDefInfo classif = client.RMGetClassificationInfo(ref auth, 229844) to retrieve information on a RM classification.

There has to be some sort of function that can return all items that has a certain RM Classification.

Any help appreciated :-)

in my experience this forum is more concerned with SOAP code on regular DM activities.I would try the RM discussion in case my reply to this looks odd and is cumbersome.

In most installs the RM_MultClass holds the data if a RM Classification is on a Object NodeID & ClassID is your keys.Most of the RM code shows you stuff about Objects from the rimsNodeClassification

tab same keys would give you that. Most of us will use a combination of queries.recursors.,search queries to get work done.Sometimes it is difficult to program in livelink expecting it to be black boxed

as you want it to be.

There is no webservice method that returns all objects having the same RM Classification, but in the latest versions of Records Management module there is a webreport that returns what you want. It's available from UI ("Enterprise/Records Management/Reports/ RM Dashboard/RM Classification"), and in there if you click on the "Item Count" cell for the Classification in question, you will get all objects having this classificaitons. The related webreport and LiveReport can be found in the folder:

"Content Server Administration/Content Server Applications Administration/Open the Content Servier Applications Volume/RM Reports/RM Dashboard/RM Classificatioins", the names are "ClassifiedItems" and "GetClassifiedItems". Both of them are taking one parameter - "ClassID".

There are examples how a webreport can be called using webservices.

Point of clarification: You can only run LiveReports with RunReport, not WebReports.

I always thought it was possible, too, but I was wrong on that front. Simplest available option is to use the CS REST API to call a WR.

I don’t know if the option was mentioned, but classification metadata should be indexed so you could also use one of the available search APIs and look for the objects that way, too.

I am inclined to agree, although he says WebReport, I think that must have been a typo.

Thank you for the corroboration.In my experience generally web service developers need greater hand holding when it comes to Livelink business rules. If there are conflicting info that opentext personnel give out it can be confusing .The LR is pretty easy to a standard livelink user,but a developer brought in to do something may not even have access to create one ,let alone run. I also think that the greater reliance on knowing the livelinks chema,relations,its tables etc leads new developers to frustration as new age developers always wants information done in almost a OOP way.

Thanks for all the replies! I will investigate the webreports option.

If any OT moderators are watching this post: The RecordsManagment web service should definitely have a function like GetClassificationItems(long classId, bool partialData, paging?) that returns an array of Nodes or objectID's.

To clarify why I did not post in the "Records Management Forum" was because it seemed dead. The most recent post was from 2012!

How can I get the result in Json or xml. I tried passing viewType = "application/json" but that did not work.

Hi Peter,

Be sure to use the Swagger docs to make sure you’re hitting the right endpoint. It should be a GET on api/v1/nodes/{id}/output where {id} is your WR node.

Implementation notes speaks to response types:

Returns the output from the execution of a WebReport node. This API only supports the 'browser' and 'desktop' WebReport destination types. Any content-type is supported for the response. The content-type of the response is user-defined according to the 'Export Mime Type' specified for the WebReport node destination. All dynamic parameters and those defined by the output of the 'api/v1/nodes/{id}/parameters' API are supported when passed in as part of the query string.

The webreport ClassifiedItems returns a HTML formatted result that is not really usable for anything but displaying the result. It would be better if it was possible to execute the LiveReport that is is based on "GetClassifiedItems"

What I am looking for is a way to iterate all items with a specific classid but that is impossible if the result is HTML.

I think I have to to create my own WR that gives me what I want :-)
