seeking for guide to prepare CS configurations report

Subject: Request for OT support on preparing ECM environment configuration report (for comparison btw environment) purpose. We ‘re currently facing issue on mis-alignment of configurations between ECM environments (e.g. between QAS, UAT and PRD).We hope to ask for suggestion / guide to correct direction on preparing ecm environment configuration report (e.g. admin.index page settings). i understand that most important settings are stored in Opentext.INI or KIni table, but I'm unable to understand or translate that information into useful admin-friendly figure, or reports for as part of future maintenance task report. does anyone know any documentation that can help to understand in details on how to extract information listed above in report format? I'm hoping there's such method/report..after all it's not efficient if we needs to compare every settings manually, right?

How about a sysreport? A relatively easy thing to do might be to generate a lite sysreport (?func=admin.sysreport) on each server and compare them using a diff tool. It contains server info (modules/patches installed, opentext.ini info) as well as a bunch of DB info (Kini, and a lot more), thought it may be way more information than you want.

Also, the AdminHelp contains a lot of the opentext.ini settings (an easy way to get there is search for wantLogs in the Admin Help slice).

Thanks for replying Simon, sysreport has big portion of data I’m looking and at the time of writing I’m still trying to understand it and see if I missed out anything.

Initial aim of my question was hoping to

Able to customize the way information is presented & offer more format of report so it’s easier for new system admin,
set permissions & have option to expose only some info to admin groups by role etc
looking for advise if I can locate the missing information (in sys report) like Connected workspaces configurations

Most of the request handlers that are in the administrative index are regular permissionable links but kept hidden so that people who are not trained in them don't accidentally click and cause damage.The best way to

do this is basically find all the request handlers of interest like the categories volume as a "SA" credentialled person. Put them as hyperlinks or in a html document.Now remove your 'SA' priv attempt the link

does it show "you are not authorized to see this blah" or does it show the admin.index password box.I always use a different browser to avoid cross contamination of the cookie,like Chrome for SA,IE for normal user

If it is the former you can put whatever permission groups work for you as well as come up with what all functionalities

should be exposed to trained end users.Later you can even put this in a appearance or customview making sure that most of these links remain as "relative" links as well as if you actually use some kind of transport

methodology give those nodes meaningful "nicknames".Then you can actually transport them to perhaps in this landscape Dev->QA->Prod Like wise if you us the "anchor' or "golden copy " much of the configuration mismatches could be avoided.

Generally if a setting is set by OT then chances are that is the best or commonly used by most customers,so if you unset it to a different thing document it .Most of the setting are database driven but certainly many settings allow a LL

server to behave differently(For e.g to make something an admin server,agent server or non SSO server we can use those opentext.ini settings to change the behaviour)
