What frameworks does SMART UI leverage? I'm coming from Documentum background. Node.js? GWT? Angular 1.x? Angular 2+? I can't seem to find this information easily.

None of these :-) The shortest answer would be - Backbone.
Smart UI is an SPA using data-only REST API. It is built around a bunch of OSS libraries, which we try to keep up-to-date to leverage the help of the community. The most important libraries are RequireJS for modularization & compilation and Backbone.JS & Marionette for building the application components.
