Change SmartUI Folder Icon?

Hi guys,

Anyone knows if I can change the folder icon in SmartUI? It would be good if the child folder can inherit/ follow the same icon as its ancestors.

For example, I have 2 folders under Enterprise (Folder A & Folder X):

Enterprise > Folder A > Sub Folder B > Sub Sub Folder C --- All using Icon 1

Enterprise > Folder X > Sub Folder Y > Sub Sub Folder Z --- All using Icon 2

 

As far as I know in the classic view, there is a setting under Content Server Administration to allow users to choose their folder icon. However, the use of a different folder icon is not reflected in the SmartUI.

I'm afraid, that it is not possible. Icons are assigned by Smart UI extensions. By object type, MIME type or other object characteristics.

Smart UI does not support choosing a custom icon from a set of "stock icons", like Classic UI. You can fill a feature request at OT CS for this. You could develop this feature using Smart UI SDK too. (You would create a dozen or more custom icons in the SVG format and use a hidden custom column to supply the icon information for your nodesprites rules extension, for example.) But because it is not something specific only to your customer, it would make sense to include this functionality in the core product.

Having the child container inherit the icon from its parent is unusual, but it might be feasible for the custom stock icons, if the rule choosing the icon had enough information about the parent node.
