Lapi Function to identify if a document is deleted

Is there a LAPI function which can identify if a document is deleted when object ID is passed as input? We have a business need to identify deleted document thru LAPI so an event can be triggered based on that. We are on LiveLink 9.7.1.

If recycle bin is the product used then when you pass in the node check its parent node, it is going to reflect the subtype of the recycle bin.ownerid which is volumeid in lapi is also a great marker

If it’s undeleted  volume then check owned
