generateSourceAPI.e not executing or I've got something wrong

Hi,

I seem to have a problem with the generateSourceAPI.e file when following through the tutorial on extending CWS.

I want to follow it from scratch from top to bottom, and I have the OScript bitslaid oout correctly.

I've now hit a stumbling block in generating the source code using the generateSourceAPI.e script.

I have placed this in it's own folder called 'scripts' under the srcmodules/helloworld folder (this follows the layout when you unpck the HelloWorld.zip file).

I've tried to call 'Run As' -> Oscript, this does nothing. I've tried to put it in the script folder of the HelloWorld_server and restart the server, this did nothing too. I've put the script in the root of CS, this did nothing either. So basically, I'm either very stuck and looking in the wrong direction entirely, or something is wrong with my set up.

So, I have Content Server 16.2.x (version 28 from .ini file). I have Eclpse IDE for Java Developers installed. Version Oxygen.3 (Release 4.7.3). I have installed the latest plugin for the IDE (16.2.4.184).

I'm hoping this is something fundamental and I'm just doing something wrong.

Hi Anthony,

I don't know this particular script but maybe you can try to invoke it via Debug As / OScript instead of Run As / OScript. No breakpoint is required for this, it should automatically stop at the first line of the script. Doing it this way you can step through the script and check if it is doing what you expect - or anything at all.

The location of the script file should not matter - as long as it inside an OScript project or the server project.

Do you see any messages in the "Error Log" view that may provide further information?

Yep, that's exactly what I was doing. I've ran this as debug too (Debug As -> OScript). What I have discovered is that it's doing it correctly from the point of making the underlying call to the SERVICE module and I can step through this and see it making the necessary calls without errors.

The folders get created (cs_src and java_src) and empty xml files within, but the actual source code does not.

I'm going to turn on full logging and find my issue. I'll report back for others to see once I solve it.

Something else must be going on under thte covers.
