Lock a field in category for a specific user gruop

Projeto_Open_Text

Hi,

Can I lock an attribute of a category wich is in a document for a specific gruop in content server?

For example, Categoria has 3 attributes (Name, Surname and date), and I want to lock the date field for a especific user group.

Can I do this? if yes, How? WebReport? ActiveView?

Thanks for the surpport

Regards

Within PS we have build a module that is able to do this.

It supports classic and Smart UI.

You could probably do this using ActiveView by adding an override that has a condition based on the USERINGROUP tag. If the user is in a certain group you would load the custom template based on the default category tab template with the modified field e.g. here is an example of taking the existing template and adding a DECODE to set a particular field called "Read Only Text Field" as read only.

[// ****************************************************************************************

[// Text Field:

[// ****************************************************************************************

[LL_WEBREPORT_IF "[LL_REPTAG_!attrType /]" == "-1" /]

This kind of approach would only stop users updating the value in the form in the UI. It won't stop the user submitting a new value for that field to the server by other means so this shouldn't be used if you need to totally block these users from updating this field under any circumstances.

Were you able to lock the field? If yes, could you please share the solution?

Jatinder_Panesar

@Ian - Could you explain which field in the category it will make readonly?

I got it working for the fields if they are text fields only. I have a category having text and table lookup fields. When I make text field readonly, the table look up functionality doesn't work. System displays all table took up fields as normal text fields. Any suggestion?

Does this method also work in the Smart UI?

@Hans you are right. It does not work with Smart View. Whats the best way to restrict users from changing some attribute values?

Ferdinand Prantl

Smart UI calls the core REST API /forms/nodes/update to get categories and other forms. CS does not provide locking or hiding category attributes based on permissions or other rules OOTB. If the module, which Hans mentioned, does not do it, you would have to find some other module, or write it yourself.

Fields returned by the REST API above can be modified or pruned using a form callback. Before the response of that call is returned, your callback will be called and it can "massage" the output to add "readonly" or "hidden" flags to the form schema of the categories.

Hans Stoop

That module also supports Smart UI.
