Smart UI equivalent of (Classic UI's) Appearances custom.js and custom.css ?

The Classic UI Appearances module provides two files custom.js and custom.css that in lay terms can be used for adding custom Javascript and CSS styles to all Content Server pages.\

By way of example, I've seen this used to remove (hide) functions in the CS Classic UI - e.g. https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objId=18992644&objAction=viewincontainer&ShowReplyEntry=54233065#forum_topic_54233065.

Theoretically, one could also use this to implement custom behaviour on certain HTML elements - think tool tips on fields, look ups etc.

Is there an equivalent of this for the Smart UI, such that we can implement similar enhancements without needing to customise core CSUI widgets or create bespoke equivalents to implement such functons?

I'm afraid, that there is no such equivalent of ActiveViews Smart UI. Not if you think about it like "load on every page manipulate some HTML".

Classic UI consists of separate pages, which each has a clear point, when it finishes loading. That's why you can manipulate the whole page without an isolated extension point.

Smart UI load a single page. The apparent page changes are caused by creating and destroying HTML elements. The is no event like window..onload. Of you want to filter the available buttons on the toolbar, you will need an event like "to toolbar in the second widget is going to be recalculated, because the object selection in the widget has changed". And that's where we are with the dedicated extension points, which we have been adding to demand.

You wouldn't be able to implement tooltips on such low level like ActiveViews either. What Smart UI displays is driven by REST API -> Model -> View. There is no information about what object an element represents in the HTML markup. The connection between HTML and the actual object is the view.
