Can you use Connected Workspaces without having the xECM module? Can you initiate workflow from the Connected Workspace?
Hi Lori,
At the technical level no, at the commercial level it is possible.
Connected Workspaces are included in CSP (CS Platform). So there is no need to have any xECM licenses. xECMlicenses are only needed when you want to connect with a business application.
WF Initiation in classic UI for Workspace is possible.

Hi Stan,
What I am saying is that you can use business workspaces that are not connected to business applications like it was required with xECM. In that case they are connected workspaces, that are connected to each other.
If you want to connect connected workspaces with a business application you will still need xECM to make that connection. Either xECM platform to make your own integration or a pre-packaged integration delivered by the other xECM products.
Of course it is also now possible to mix and match based on system landscape.
I hope this will have cleared it up for you.

Quoted Hans Stoop on 10/31/2018 02:15 PM:
Template workspaces are binders and cases and additional functionality like the creation wizards, reminders/follow up, workflow initiation. Binders and cases will not be supported in the Smart UI.
Technically speaking there is no difference between connected workspaces and business workspaces. The subtype for them is 848.
Business workspace come from xECM and are connected to objects defined in a business application. For connected workspaces this connection to the business application is no longer required.
@Hans, could you expand on your comment that the CW connection to the business application is no longer required? Are you saying are able to connect directly to the business application without requiring business workspaces (or the xecm framework?) - thanks!
