Java use in CS modules - which version is supported

Hi,

For Java classes called from Content Server 16.2, which version of Java is supported? It used to be that Content Server was always a version or two behind Oracle's official release. Generally, you can go lower with your compile version but not higher.

This question more to partners, but for those of you who need to call a jar in your module, do you need a separate licence from Oracle or is the use of the jar covered under OpenText's licensing given that the jar would be run within the CS JVM?

To answer my own question, I just tried https://www.eclipse.org/openj9/ and it worked not only to compile and run my JAR but it also runs CSIDE successfully.

The official line… Java 8 is supported / tested in CS 16.x up until December 2018. OpenJDK 11.0.1 is the officially supported Java environment for March 2019.
