Initiate Workflow with Rest API

From the Rest API documentation I only see verbs for PUT and GET under the processes / workflow section. Am I correct in assuming there's not currently a way to initiate a workflow from the Rest API?

Thanks Olaf, that was helpful. Is there also any info / examples on how to set the Name of the workflow and as well as attributes on initiation? I didn't see anything in that example for this.
