Search API - is XML still the only real option? Is there documentation for CS 16?

I need to report on what is available in CS 16.2.x for client app searching. I went looking for the XML Search documentation as the REST API and WS API both appear to still be incomplete. There is no documentation for CS 16, and the link to CS 10.5 XML search appears to be missing.

Have there been any changes in recommendations for search API usage since CS 16.0 which is when I last checked?

Hi Hugh - For what it's worth there has been a lot of good stuff added to the search endpoint for REST ( https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/fetch/-15106263/15106294/15106295/16376487/67789539/index.html?nodeid=67794494&vernum=-2#!/search ). This gave me all I needed when writing a client application earlier this year.

However it's possible that this still is not at 100% parity with the XML API ( https://knowledge.opentext.com/go/16579994 ) (however it might be / I dunno for sure :-) ).

Checked out the REST documentation. It does appear that the REST API has come a long way regarding search, and I consider it a relief that I don't need to tell developers to use both a REST API and an XML API at the same time.
