CS 16.2 REST API won't return icon on call to v2/nodes//nodes

Hi,

I'm wondering why the CS16.2 REST API v2 returns "null" on all the icons even though the v1/nodes/101010/nodes returns a value pointing to an icon image.

V2 GET: /api/v2/nodes/32057308/nodes?where_type=0&where_type=136&sort=asc_name&fields=properties{id,name,parent_id,size,container_size,create_date,modify_date,icon}&page=1&limit=10000

V1 GET: /api/v1/nodes/32057308/nodes?where_type=0&where_type=136&page=1&limit=10000&extra=false

Our application use the icon-field to allow users to set the icon when creating let's say a restricted access folder. This is very useful for other users that may not have access to open said folder.

Ferda is correct but I've also entered a bug since the results of icon are inconsistent depending on which v2/nodes/* resource you call.

The icon was not useful, because different applications needed different icons. CS REST API moved to the direction of a data-oriented, UI-agnostic API.

History

The first application, that consumed CS REST API, was CS UI Widgets. (CS UI Widgets was later put to the basement of Smart UI.) It wanted its own icons, more modern ones. Not the icons used in Classic UI. There is an assumption, if a new application is designed in the future, they will want yet more modern icons.

What icons would you want to deliver? From Smart UI? It is currently not feasible, because they are not known in OScript. Classic UI icons are known there, but why would you want those, when your application integrates with Smart UI, which offers a JavaScript API to determine the icon? (For example.)
