Update Version Comments using CWS

Hi All

I'm using the ContentServiceClient.UploadContent to upload a new version to an existing document in content server. I would like to know how I can update the version comments as part of the upload process. Appreciate your help!

Before your code does ContentServiceClient.UploadContent do you not have a Node or a Version Object?
DocumentManagement.Node myNode = fDocMan.GetNode(ref fDocsAuthentication, 12345678);
Look at this Object myNode.VersionInfo.Versions[0].Comment in your debugger or Soap UI
Versions is an object that is the Version Handle

the UploadContent is a webserver / context/ Oscript CacheID mechanism when big files are encountered so you are given a ContextID so that enough information about the file being uploaded to what Node and what Version

Thanks Appu. I do get the contextID upfront by calling the AddVersionContext(), since I'm doing mass uploads in batches. However the Metdata parameter of the AddVersionContext() method can only be used to set cats/atts.

I just found out the DocumentManagementClient.UpdateVersion() can do this. Here is the code:

DocumentManagementClient dm = new DocumentManagementClient();
DocumentManagementService.Version version = dm.GetVersion(ref otAuth, 779727, 4);
version.Comment = "MyVersionComment";
dm.UpdateVersion(ref otAuth, version);

ConentService, Methods are better in uploading downloading content .the code I posted was something I corrected at a client where the original way was to upload/download without using Content Service this was also an Excel-based Uploader. The server running it would really run into space issues after along time so I corrected it to use Content Service no probs after. In fact, I even told an OT Vendor product since they were using DM methods and killing our servers and not able to put big files. Anyways what you are doing is what I showed as well

Thanks for clarifying Appu! I'm fortunate to have manageable file sizes in my repository. With ContentService the uploads are super fast.
