Find out which widget is using a specific webreport

Hi,

We have defined some perspectives (using the standard widgets) and are using webreports to fill in "Nodes List Webreport" widgets in CS v20.3.

For documentation purposes I want to make an overview per webreport and list the perspectives/widget it is used in.

I tried to find the relationship between perspectives and webreports with an webreport (extendeddata and gettext) without success.

Do you have any idea?

If I'm not mistaken 20.3 has the new perspectives model. Whether or not you are using that depends on what features you were using with ActiveView Perspectives when you upgraded to 20.3. If you had any rules expressions outside of the ones that the perspectives manager handles, then you are probably still using ActiveView based perspectives. New style perspectives have data in a DPerspectives table whereas the ActiveView type of perspectives exist in the AVOVERRIDES table and are marked as perspectives using OverrideClass = 1. Original style ActiveViews use Constants to point to any WebReports (or other objects) being referenced by the perspective. New Perspectives don't appear to have any such external reference.

As you have figured out, the information about which WebReports are being used in a given perspective is actually in the content part of both of these objects. The traditional ActiveView is easier here as the text is "readable". For some reason I haven't fully divined, "getText" on a new perspective doesn't reveal any useful text. I've had to use an API call for this that I'm leveraging through a custom sub-tag. ($PERSPECTIVES.PerspectivesAPI.GetPerspective). This API pulls together most of the useful information about the perspective.

This is topical for me because we're just finishing development of a "Application Analyzer" tool that (among other features) allows you to look at all perspectives on a system that have WebReports widgets and to see the widgets along with all the other information about the WebReports. The Perspective node is stored as a serialized data structure based on behaviours it inherits from LLStreamNode. This calls different DAPI utils to read and write the version content via $LLIApi.NodeUtil.StreamNodeToVal and $LLIApi.NodeUtil.StreamValToNode. It might be we need to enhance GETTEXT to handle these node types. Alternatively we could add a new tag to get the data for a Perspective in a more friendly way. This could be similar to FORMINFO which was added to help people get access to the data structure of a Form node definition.

Actually on reflection the GETTEXT problem is more likely to be a bug because we don't use LLNode.NodeFetchVersion in the tag. This means it doesn't have the business logic necessary to handle different ways of fetching version content for different node types.
