Category attributes unfilled - test inside workflow

Hello,
We are using Content Server Workflows based on a template document, and with categories.
When we create a new document (e.g. word) based on this template in the classic UI, the unfilled attributes are "undefined" :
So we can test it.
But when a document is created using the SmartUI, we can't test the attribute !!
It is not NULL, not Undefined, not Blank, and the test fail.
How can we test a unfilled attribute value created by the SmartUI, in a Workflow ??
Thanks
Jean-Pierre

@Jean-Pierre Sibourd , have you resolved this in SmartUI or is it open for discussion with the experts?

Hi @Karen Weir
At this time this issue isn't resolved.
And when I search in the database the field is empty when the document is created in the smartView, than is NULL value when created under the classicUI.
It's a normal textfield.
