I'm trying to grant a user the ability to run the Perspective Manager. Whatever privileges & permissions I give them, they always get the same message "Insufficient Privileges". Does anybody know what privileges they need? Do they need Sys Admin?
Are you talking about the usage privileges? there are specific permissions needed there, and they need full control of the perspectives volume. Business admin group has access by default.
They're already a member of the Business Admin Group and have full control of the perspectives volume.
Which update level is this and are you using ActiveView Perspectives or the new Perspective node mechanism? The behaviour is different and ActiveView Perspectives don't have support for Business Administrators. This was only added in the 20.2 update with the new Perspectives node.
We're using 16.11.2. Does this dictate whether we're using ActiveView Perspectives or the new Perspective node mechanism? I don't know how to tell which.
16.11 only has ActiveView Perspectives. You can tell by looking in the Perspectives Volume to see if the Perspective nodes are ActiveView node types. New node types were added in 20.2 to store Perspective definitions.
The main privilege that controls editing ActiveView Perspectives is the ActiveView -> Perspectives Tab usage privilege.
Being a sys admin isn't necessary but there is no explicit support for Business Administrators for ActiveView Perspectives.
