CSIDE on RHEL 7.8

I am seeing almost a similar thing as this poster

since I am new to CSIDE on Linux it is quite possible I do not know what I am doing.

My CS Server binaries and install directories are owned by root:root the main oracle install owned by oracle:install.I start my llserver with the sudo root command start_lladmin and start_csserver everything is kosher

I then start my CSIDE at which point I lose access to the oracle drivers. since this is my development env I only have OTDS running on internal(admserv) I see its process up.

Hi Appu - can you tell me what "echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH" shows you before you launch Eclipse as root? CSIDE is supposed to pick that up from the environment before launching the server.

empty ... perhaps the shellscript for start_csssever is setting it ?

Yeah, as per https://webapp.opentext.com/piroot/llescor/v210400/llescor-igd/en/html/jsframe.htm?igd-unixprereq-imfilter-so this gets set in the start-up scripts.

You'll want to issue "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=###;$LD_LIBRABRY_PATH" (where is the folder where the so files are stored) before starting Eclipse.

Lemme know if that doesn't work 🤞

Sent logs to both of you setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH got me eclipse and CSIDE working but it does not see my Oracle Database as configured :) @RayTsui @Dave Carpeneto Dave apologize for the life of me this interface I cannot find you :)

... no comment given on how I find the forums since they changed the system a few years back 😉

For reference to the others on the thread: the change that got things working was export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/software/lib:$CS_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH (where ORACLE_HOME & CS_HOME are set as need be).

Also for reference to the others on the thread: investigation is underway 🙂

Finally hit pay dirt. Much obliged to pointers given by both of you. This is mostly rookie or pilot fault. In this VM I am the Oracle Admin which is not exactly my job so as I said my first foray into Linux and altogether the experience has been fun. I was RPM'ng and YUMm- ing my way through Oracle installs

So all said and done for CSIDE to work correctly steps taken shown with hardcoded oracle paths

Once the configuration is complete and Oracle is up and running note its SID and ORACLE_HOME

so on a fresh root bash shell- export these so eclipse has the environment variables the last export is for CSIDE so it can see the .so files in the /usr and /usr/lib64 areas. Specifically the two other exports are so that the "forked CSIDE processes" can still connect to the database .I was getting "Error executing a SQLStatement" in thread0.log) even after the libraries was resolved by setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH

export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/software
export ORACLE_SID=orcl
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/oracle/software/lib:/opt/opentext21/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH  

Optional
export ORAENV_ASK=NO  //probably not needed I got this from a website saying there is oraenv file that was in my [oracle@myhost~]$ which oraenv (https://www.orafaq.com/wiki/Oraenv) 
/usr/local/bin/oraenv
this can theoretically be sourced into your ~/bashrc but I am not going to worry making things automatic and completely forgetting it the next time

@David_Henshaw @Henshaw_David also chimed into help by adding that converting a Windows developed module is already addressed by OT .There is a export module in CSIDE
