Set classification in node with API Rest

Hi all,

We are working on an integration using the Rest API, and there is something that I cannot find how to do it, and maybe is not doable...

Basically, is there a way to set the classification for a node using the Rest API. Like, create a folder and the set its classification.

Hello again,

I found how to do it... like many other things, is undocumented in the API information.

But... with the browser debug on SmartView I got to see what happens when a Classification is applied. I share it here in case it helps anyone...

So there is an API call:

Resource: /v1/nodes/<nodeID>/classifications

With that, you can get the classifications for a node, with a GET call.

Or set a classification (or several) with a POST call, and sending a "body" parameter with a JSON:

{"class_id":[{"id":<classificationID>}]}

And this way, you can get or apply classifications.

Hi,

it is documented, but hidden in the Records Management API:

APIs / Store & Manage / Content Server / Records Management 21.1 / Get Classifications

(same for Apply Classification, Delete Classification).

The section where it is documented is called "Records Management", the API works also for normal Classification.

I created an own REST API integration (a class with methods) in SAP for these API, so I can

find the target folder for declared ArchiveLink documents in Business Workspaces via Classification (of course using a Unique Name for the Classification)
apply Classification to all documents coming from SAP ArchiveLink and SAP DMS to xECM. Result: there is a clean document type classification for all documents in xECM.

How do you use the Unique Name for the Classification?

I mean, I know how to set up a Unique Name for a Classification, however, I am not sure on how to use it with REST API to establish a classification using its unique name.

Any hints?

Hi @Israel.Garcia you are right, there is no REST API for Unique Names. This one is missing.

For Unique Names OTCS still offers only the old fashioned WebService, which is used by SAP to get the Unique Names.
