Workflow Smart View at Initiation

Hi,

Hoping I am posting in the correct place. Please redirect me if incorrect.

I am developing a new workflow. We recently upgraded and now have Smart View. All my steps with Smart View are working as expected. However, my Start Step is not displaying in Smart View even though I have that option checked off. Is there something else I must do?

What is the version of your CS.I n my CS 22.1 I quickly looked and I see the same as you have done and when I initiate it does start in SV as screencap. The only difference I had was I had the WF Map Initiation also set for Documents so people could quickly run the WF from the Documents menu. For this testing I made the map like yours and it did work as advertised. Perhaps older versions ,patches etc. Create quickly a two step map without a lot of frills and see if you can get it going in SV or open a ticket with OT

BTW the instructions are ignored in SV.

Another thing that some companies do is to turn off smartview and use a setting to say old links to be interpreted as new or the converse so it may not be the WF Setup that may be amiss .If you go to your CS home page and change the ?func=llworkspace to the SV like otcs/cs.exe/app does even the main page render in SV?

Thank you for your input. We are at 20.4. Maybe we are missing a patch or something. I will talk to our server admin.

Hi Michelle,

Since about 20.2, the smart view initiation has been the default, and I think even as early as 16.2.11. As Appu mentioned, if you go to the cs.exe/app request handler (i.e. replace ?func=llworkspace with /app) and it still doesn't render in smart view, then smart view is disabled. I was under the impression that smart view was never disabled so much as the link to go to smart view from classic would be hidden, but there may be a way to completely turn it off, in which case you need to find that setting.

I doubt you are missing a patch - this is not something that changed in a patch. Either way, if you still can't get this working, I would contact OT support.

Thank you folks!

I had a little lesson from my server admin. What I didn't realize was that there are 2 views of the folder where we have our workflows. One for the classic view and one for Smart View. If I go to the Smart View URL and start the Workflow, it starts in Smart View.

I am glad it works for you that way. In my system whether I am in classic or Smart the WF happens to starts in Smart with that setting checked .My gut feel is OT is weaning people away from classic at some point they can shut it down... so the increased push towards everything smart.
