Find string difference - Webreport

Hi,

I have a Webreport with some columns. I want to find difference of string between two columns as shown in the below example.

Database is Oracle.

e.g.

##Col1 ##Col2 ##Difference Col1 Col2

##==== ##========== ##===============

##See | See Contents | Modify ##See |Modify ##See Contents

I'm not sure we have a good way in WebReports to do this with our tags/subtags. You'd probably need to do something like convert the strings you wish to compare to lists with TOLIST or so and iterate over each, storing or adding to a variable whatever you find that is different. Not very elegant and I'm not sure the best way.

In OScript, I know you can use Str.Cmp() to get an integer value of which string, by ASCII value is greater, lesser or equal, but you'd need to figure out a way to split and traverse both strings, storing differences.

Are you running your WebReport interactively? Why not try something like the "Javascript Diff Algorithm" or find a more recent implementation of something similar?

If you're going to be doing a LOT of compares over a lot of data, I would suggest foregoing any attempts to diff the values in the WebReport proper, either by custom tags or javascript and try to see if your Oracle has any functions or common table expressions you can write to do the comparison for you.

You sort of hint at your goal, here, but it seems to me that maybe you'd be best off doing some bitwise operators on the ACLs in SQL so you can do a number compare to see what permissions a RightID has or doesn't have.
