Project Description

Their solution looked to enhance healthcare accessibility for individuals with special needs and those who speak diverse languages. They developed a comprehensive solution that addressed this challenge by generating tactile images from Medical documents (i.e. X-ray) and offered translation services for medical reports within the healthcare sector.

They integrated the Text Capture API into their accessibility project which can significantly enhance its capabilities through text extraction from images. Highlights of the use of this API included:

  • Tactile Image Generation
  • Multilingual Support
  • User Input and Interaction
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping
  • Prescription Verification
  • Accessibility Auditing
  • Integration with Assistive Technologies

Incorporating a Text Capture API allowed this team to automate the extraction and processing of text from various sources, making healthcare information more accessible and understandable for individuals with special needs and those from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

This submission successfully showcased the power of API's by utilizing a combination of OpenText and Google Health API's to create a solution that addresses the challenge and alleviates a pain point for he intended audience. Judges were also impressed with the research put into this submission and for the detailed road map this team submitted for future enhancements. This was a well executed solution that went above and beyond what the judges hoped to see from the accessibility challenge.
