HTTP url in Enterprise-Connect plug-in is not working after enabling Kerberos authentication(OTDS)

Hi Team,

Issue is that HTTP URL in Enterprise-Connect plug-in's not working after enabling Kerberos authentication(OTDS) and disabling the Web Server authentication(OTCS).

We are now forced to update the plug-in to HTTPS.

On web-browser we access OTCS URL by both HTTP and HTTPS as well.

(On web-browser, once I copy the HTTP URL, the URL auto-redirects to HTTPS.)

We have added the HTTPS and HTTP url's in the trusted web-sites as well both in OTCS and OTDS, but no luck.

Please find the error we are receiving here below..

Please advise.

Regards,

Vishnu

  • HTTP should probably never be used?

Is there a technical reason why http is ever specified? For EC, this is generally configured by administrators so it should be entered as https directly and not rely on redirects.

  • Hi Brian,

EC client software on many of the user's workstation were having older plug-in details containing HTTP url , since then and it was working fine without any issues. Post enabling the 'Kerberos authentication', HTTP url in the plug-in started failing for the set of users who have HTTP in the EC PLug-in.

Here are the more details on the further observation.

    1. all HTTP url's including both 'LB HTT'P and 'Direct CS HTTP url'  are not working via the EC Plug-in.

    2. all HTTP url's including both 'LB HTT'P and 'Direct CS HTTP url'  are working via the Web-browser ( as these URL's redirects to HTTPS).

    3. But all HTTP url's including both 'LB HTT'P and 'Direct CS HTTP url'  are working via the EC Plug-in and Web-browser.

We have now updated to HTTPS to the user's workstation Enterprise-Connect plug-in.

However please advise whether this can be a improvement/feature request in the Enterprise-Connect.

    Regards,

    Vishnu

  • It is a known issue that EC wont handle the case where you put http:// in our plugin configuration and expect a redirect to https:// to happen.

I don't expect we would investigate more as there is really no reason why https:// shouldnt be used in EC configuration from the start.
