We're excited to introduce a new sample application - Goose Watch 🪿
This application showcases four OpenText API Services - Content Metadata Service (CMS), Content Storage Service (CSS), Information Intelligence Service (InfoIntel) and Messaging Service, running on the OpenText Cloud Platform (hosted on GCP), and the use of a Relational Database (mySQL) to store the form data.
Our vision and challenge to you:
OpenText's HQ located in Waterloo, ON Canada is the unofficial Geese Capital of Canada. Every year, our staff at multiple offices have to learn to navigate around nesting geese as they claim portions of our offices as their territory. We asked ourselves, how can we use technology to protect our staff and learn how to coexist with the geese? (The picture below is an employee submitted sighting of a goose taking employee parking spots)
The vision: The Thrust Services provide a framework for collecting, reporting and analyzing objects through multiple filetypes and risks of those objects. This sample is a framework for reporting and collecting Goose movements and behaviour.
Your challenge: We are looking to work with our community to see how you could use your expertise to create a real world App. All working apps will be eligible for community awards and can be made available through the marketplace.
Getting Started
We created this form to start aggregating data on geese sightings, their behaviour and locations so we can keep our staff informed and safe. This is just the beginning! To get started, fork the GitHub sample app by creating a personal copy of the repository under your own GitHub account, this allows you to freely experiment with changes without affecting the original project. This can be done by clicking the “Fork” button on the repository page, which clones the entire codebase, including commit history. Once forked, you can clone the new repo to your local machine, make modifications, push updates to your fork and propose changes via pull requests.
Not interested in Geese? Have ideas on how you would use this sample app to solve a business or data challenge at your organization or for a customer? Let's work together to solve your challenges - we want to hear your feedback, ideas and answer any questions you might have.
We'll provide updates, findings and tips as this project continues to develop and we incorporate more services into the application.
