why oracle does not appear during installation content server 25.4?

Hello everyone,

I’m in the process of installing OpenText Content Server 25.5. After completing the installation, I noticed that when accessing the Admin pages to configure the database, there is no option to select Oracle as the database type.

Does anyone know why Oracle is no longer available as a selectable option?

I came across this statement elsewhere:

OpenText officially removed Oracle Database support for Content Server in the modern 24.x and 25.x releases. The installer now only offers:– Microsoft SQL Server (on‑prem)– PostgreSQL (for some cloud/container deployments)
Because Oracle is no longer supported, the installer does not show Oracle as a selectable database.

If anyone can confirm this or provide additional context, I’d really appreciate it.

KAmal - where did you find the statement that Oracle is no longer supported?

That would be contradictory to the release notes, which still detail Oracle as a choice.

If Oracle isn't showing up in the list of database connection types, sounds to me like the Oracle client isn't installed on the servers you're deploying OTCS to. That's a pre-requisite as I recall.

Thank you for the quick response.

The statement I mentioned earlier came from a Copilot search when I was trying to understand why Oracle wasn’t listed as a database option. I agree with you — after reviewing the release notes and documentation myself, I also didn’t find anything stating that Oracle is no longer supported.

Initially, I assumed the issue might be related to the Oracle client, but the client is already installed and the PATH has been updated correctly to include the Oracle client location.

Did you completely reboot the server after the installation of the Oracle client/driver? If not, I suspect the OpenText installer wouldn't pick the details up.

If you have, then I recommend raising a support ticket directly with OpenText.

Yes, the server was rebooted, but still no luck. I’ve also raised a support ticket.
