After upgrading from Livelink 9.7.1 to Content Server 10.5 SP1 U2015-06 we noticed that our internal customer LiveReports that search for documents are now showing ducplicate rows because of Thumbnails and having "Generate Thumbnails" Enabled.

I found that Thumbnails have the same DTreeCore.Name, same DTree.DataID, but DVersData.Filename = "200x200-1.JPG"

Do Thumbnails have their own Subtype ? How can Thumbnail (documents) be excluded from LiveReports or customers be able to filter them without having to rewrite reports or Disable Generate Thumbnails ?

You can also run a LR that lists the counts of all Subtypes. Those that are undefined in the report, you can identify in a subreport that lists out a hundred or so. Use those DATAIDs in a URL to look at them in the General Properties and then you'll know what it is. I filled my Subtype LR in that way from the known ones.

Hi Chad,

Treat thumbnails almost as you would Renditions.

That is, the VerType is populated in DVersData for thumbnails (as is the PageNum column [I think that’s what it’s called]).

You would likely want to exclude Renditions as duplicates as well, so filtering out cases where VerType is defined should suffice.

Thanks Kyle. I have two additional questions about them

How can I easily delete the existing Thumbnails that were created post-upgrade ?

(I thought of making a Collection but cannot figure out how to retrieve them via CS10.5 Search ) -- Any ideas how I can query Thumbnails via Search ?
